NOTE:  This is one of 3 Black and White prints of Yosemite offered in matching sizes and finishes that look very nice when displayed together.  The other two are "Merced River and Yosemite Falls" and "Walking in Majesty - El Capitan".

In 2015 my wife and I decided it was time to take our kids to see Yosemite.  It had been years since either of us had been there and our kids were old enough to do some some hiking more than just walking around the valley floor.  So we packed up the car and headed out!  You can read more about this story in the description of "Walking in Majesty - El Capitan".

We planned to do a few particular hikes with the kids (weather permitting, of course), and the "Mist Trail" up to Vernal Falls was one of them.  We were fortunate enough to wake up to a spectacularly clear day for our hike up the mountain.  On the way up, I saw this view and thought "I have to get a shot of this"!  But, we were almost to the top and we all wanted to keep "pushing" to reach a spot where we could sit and enjoy lunch.  Not to mention the numerous other hikers behind us that I think would have frowned at me blocking the trail to take a picture.

We made the top just a few minutes beyond this point, took a few "selfies" with a GoPro, ate lunch, and enjoyed our time by the rushing river.

It was on our descent that an opportunity made itself available for me to "pull to the side" and take some pictures.  The lighting was perfect for creating a rainbow and I took quite a few images.  This one is one of my favorite.

I thought I was going to like this best as a color image, but there's something about it in Black and White that I just love.

Who knows, perhaps I'll make a color version available sometime in the future.  Keep your eyes pealed.
